ARTreviews magazine highlights Casablanca as one of the ‘10 Cities to Watch’ in an article by Andy Battaglia titled ‘The North African Gateway: Casablanca’.

The article features the Casablanca art scene including Fondation Alliances, Espace Actua, Loft Gallery and the Casablanca Biennale which 5th edition is scheduled in September 2022.

‘The Biennale is in part a showcase for the IFITRY Residency program in Essaouira, where artists are given accommodations and support to work on projects in inviting seaside environs’, Battaglia writes. The biennale residencies are set to resume in February 2022.

The article also evokes the theme of the biennale ‘The Words Create Images’ involving “the relationship between text and image but also language”, which is part of the still debated (post)-colonial legacies.

More information on the biennale programme will be communicated closer to the start of the residencies.
